TOWEL SUPPLIERS NZ

The best ways to keep a fluffy bathrobe fluffy

by Lifeboat Admin ,
Your bathrobes are one of your hardest working team members of your house or business. It’s important to keep them looking their best! They’re in charge of helping your bathrooms, clinics, and spas look beautiful. They keep your guests clean, dry, warm and comfortable. It’s a lot to ask from a simple robe, so taking proper care of them is of the utmost importance.
Here are some handy hints to help you keep your bathrobes fluffy and fabulous!
When in Doubt – Wash!
It can be tempting to get that beautiful new bathrobe straight into the bathrooms of your bed and breakfast, massage therapy clinic or beauty salon, but you should carry out a preliminary wash that many people aren’t aware of.
During the manufacturing process a lubricant is applied to the yarn that’s used to form your towels’ terry loops (or piles), which makes their insertion during weaving much easier. Unfortunately, this lubricant gives the yarn a slippery surface which remains and requires a good initial wash to be removed. Pre-washing new bathrobes also allows the ground weave to shrink in. This results in a tightening of the fabric, helping them to last longer.

With the pre-wash, remember to use three times the usual quantity of detergent to ensure all the lubricant is removed. Give your towels a good shake before loading them into the washing machine as this opens up the fibres slightly to allow the detergent to sink inside. For future washes, consider using half the recommended amount of detergent.
A Splash of Vinegar
If your bathrobes have lost their softness and become stiff it can be due to the build-up of detergent residue. Washing your bathrobes again with a quarter cup of distilled white vinegar in the rinse will help remove this build-up. Placing a single cup of white vinegar in your wash with detergent about once or twice a month is great for cutting through the claggy residue that detergent can leave behind.
It can be tempting to use a fabric softener, but continued use of it can cause your bathrobes to lose their absorbency and, eventually, their fibres will fall out. If you insist on using fabric softeners, just make sure you’re using just the right amount of conditioner to prevent depleting quality.
A Breath of Fresh Air
Finally, if you have the time, I recommend drying your bathrobes outside on the line. Fresh air does wonders for fabric and it helps to keep your electricity bill down too! If you must use your dryer, adding a tennis ball or two into your dryer is another great way to fluff up your bathrobes as they bounce around! It makes a bit of a racket, but it’s perfectly safe! Drying for a longer cycle on a lower heat is helpful in keeping colours vibrant and avoids fading. If you can, dry your bathrobes on the line and finish them off in the dryer.
