WHAT SIZE DO I NEED?
Our textiles come in a range of sizes so there is definitely something here for everyone. As every towel is made by hand, each towel can be a slightly different size. Sizes are measured edge to edge without tassels, before washing.
LOOPED TOWELS WITH A SEAMED EDGE
(as more than one of the smaller towel sizes can be woven at the same time, only the ones at the end with have a raw selvage edge, and as both edges of a towel should match,
the edges are turned over and stitched)

VERSATILITY
Flat woven and looped towels have many uses. In addition to being used after a bath, some of the uses for a pestamel are as a beach cover-up, a scarf, a table cloth, a curtain, a rug or a blanket. Peskirs can be used as head towels, hand towels, napkins and placemats or as the perfect sized towel for a child. Looped towels are thicker and heavier which means they can be used as bathmats, rugs or blankets on cold nights. Because our products can be used in numerous ways, you may see the same product on the website twice in a different collection. How will you use yours? Please share your photos with us on Facebook.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
BEFORE FIRST USE
Cotton is not absorbent to begin with and soaking can help speed the process of 'breaking-in' the cotton and assisting it to become more absorbent more quickly.
Soak your textiles in cold water (24 hours for the thick looped towels, 12 hours for flat woven items) and then hang them to drip dry. When soaking, make sure the textile is completely saturated. Don’t be afraid to get your hands in there to really work the water into the fibers - this will help speed up the absorbency process. Once the towel is dry after being hung up, wash and dry it as you normally would and then use it and enjoy it. Some towels may need to be soaked a few times before they become absorbent, especially ecru towels. Ecru is the natural colour of the cotton and is more raw than white or coloured towels. Ecru towels may need to be soaked three or even four times.
If your towel seems to be extra stubborn, it may simply be that your water is very hard – adding a 1/2 cup or 120ml of clear vinegar to the soaking/washing water can help soften the water.
EVERYDAY CARE
All our textiles can be machine washed (max 40˚C) and put into the tumble dryer or laid flat to dry. To get the best out of your towels, do not use fabric softener or dryer sheets. These will only coat the fibers with chemicals and will make your towel less absorbent. And remember not to over-dry cotton. Instead, use a tumble dryer on a cool or medium heat setting, or use ‘dryer balls’ in the drum instead of dryer sheets. These are a natural way of getting the air moving in the dryer to make your towels extra soft and fluffy. Don’t forget to clean out the lint from your dryer as the towels will produce more than usual at the beginning.
If you would like to whiten or brighten your towels, do not use bleach. This will only weaken the fibers and make them less absorbent and more fragile. We recommend adding a ¼ cup or 60ml of baking soda and one cup of white vinegar to your wash.
This combination also works well as a paste to help take out any stains – a real all-natural way to care for all of your fabrics!
Should any loops get caught or hang long, cut the longer loop off with sharp scissors to the length of the other loops. This will not cause a hole or the unraveling of the threads.
If one of the tassels comes undone, follow these steps to fix it:
1. divide the loose threads into two roughly equal sections;
2. twist the two sections separately in a clockwise direction until each piece is twisted to the ends;
3. twist the two sections together in the opposite (counter-clockwise) direction until the two sections are twisted completely;
4. tie a knot at the end, and you’re finished
